Abolition of Electoral College
Position on whether the electoral college should be abolished in favor of a direct popular vote or not. Defend your position using two specific arguments and examples to support your claim.
Answer: I am in support or in favor of the electoral college being abolished in favor of a direct popular- one person one vote. First of all, the amount of monies spent for ads and the lack of visit to the states where candidates deem unimportant results in neglect or even the fact that they are already Democrat or Republican and the individuals have already created a strategy for winning, eliminating certain states or voters. The voter base in these neglected states become symbolic or "die-hard" supporters. For example Rob Richie, executive Director of Fair Vote pointed out that certain states never receive a visit from the candidates like in the case of Maryland and also Chicago.
John Samples from the Cato Institute's argument in favor of the electoral college is because it is rooted in the Constitution while I am of the view that the Constitution should be amended to reflect or keep up with modern times and the younger generation who are interested in instant or direct results. For example the credit card and social media in the likes of twitter. The founding fathers did not see 200 years after the writing of the Constitution that the newspaper would be irrelevant as well as the hundred plus years of the eight ro bear arms in the Constitution there would be the assault rifle and rocket launders. I am of the view or questioning whether an initiative or placing this on a ballot and go from there. It has to start somewhere to make it to congress.
